Last updatedWho we are
Replay Relay is made by SlinkyPixels (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Replay Relay app for Mac and this website. If you have a question about it, or about your data, email hello@slinkypixels.io.
The app
What we collect
Nothing. Replay Relay has no servers, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. We never receive your captures, your Microsoft account details, or anything about how you use the app.
What the app works with
To do its job, Replay Relay works with three things. Everything happens on your Mac, or between your Mac and Microsoft.
- Your Microsoft account. You sign in on Microsoft’s own sign-in page, so Replay Relay never sees your password. Microsoft gives the app a sign-in token, which is kept in your Mac’s Keychain so you stay signed in. Signing out removes it.
- Your OneDrive. The app asks Microsoft for two permissions.
User.Readlets it show which account you’re signed in with (your name and email address).Files.ReadWritelets it list, download and remove captures. Microsoft grants that permission for your whole OneDrive, but Replay Relay only uses it in the capture folders shown in Settings (by default Pictures/Xbox Screenshots and Videos/Xbox Game DVR), and to show how much of your OneDrive storage is used. Captures download straight from OneDrive to your Mac over an encrypted connection. - Your Photos library. Replay Relay asks for full access so it can find your existing albums and add captures to them. It creates the folders and albums it needs, and doesn’t change or delete any of your other photos.
Your settings, such as how often to check and which folders to use, are stored on your Mac in the app’s preferences.
Removing captures from OneDrive
Once a capture is safely in Photos, Replay Relay moves it to OneDrive’s recycle bin or deletes it permanently, depending on your settings. With HDR screenshots, the .jxr copy is removed too, unless you turn that off in Settings. After that, your captures are looked after by Photos and, if you use it, iCloud Photos.
Microsoft and Apple
Signing in and OneDrive are provided by Microsoft, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Photos, iCloud and the Mac App Store are provided by Apple, under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac’s settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics about Replay Relay with us. These don’t identify you.
Removing Replay Relay’s access
- Sign out in Settings › Account to remove the sign-in from your Mac. Do this before deleting the app, so the sign-in is removed from your Keychain too.
- To withdraw the app’s permission from your Microsoft account, remove Replay Relay at account.live.com/consent/Manage.
- To withdraw Photos access, turn off Replay Relay in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
This website
- The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect it.
- We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn’t use cookies, and doesn’t identify you or follow you across other websites.
- The site remembers your Light, Dark or Auto choice in your browser’s local storage. It’s never sent to us.
- There are no cookies, adverts or third-party trackers.
If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply to you, and keep them only as long as we need to.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice, the only personal data we might hold is an email you’ve sent us. Email hello@slinkypixels.io and we’ll reply within a month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
Replay Relay doesn’t collect personal data from anyone, including children.
